Continuing with the Columbus music theme, here’s Hugs & Kisses performing with The Slide Machine as their backing band at Comfest 2008. If you’re not from around here, Comfest is free festival. For three days every summer, half the city descends upon Goodale Park for music, food, art, drugs and drinks.
If you’ve never seen Hugs & Kisses you are missing out on one of the greatest live acts ever. As you can tell from the video, elaborate costumes are involved and the songs are worked into a sketch that lead singer Donny Monaco writes. And they never repeat the same sketch, ever. For comfest they went all out with a Scooby-Doo themed mystery about a monster lost in the park.
Oh, and their music is amazing future doo-wop about women and drugs. What’s not to love?
